A MyndYou update from our founders

We are excited to announce our latest milestone with WindRose Health Investors.

We want to thank all of our investors, friends, and colleagues with whom we have worked over the years to shape MyndYou into the organization it is today. The support and guidance we received helped us evolve our solution into a leading proven conversational AI tool that has attracted the attention of top health system and health plan leaders.

We have learned a lot along our journey, listening to the market, making some mistakes and fixing them, trying, changing, and not giving up on what we believe is most important — setting our course for expanding how we improve results for the healthcare organizations with whom we work and the patients they serve. MyndYou is ready to influence the next generation of population health management and with this partnership with WindRose, we are positioned to deliver and support the high interest we see from the market.

Where we started

We founded MyndYou with the vision that we could make an impact on people’s lives, and in particular people with little to no access to care, in a personalized and empathetic way. We developed a scalable solution that uses sophisticated technology on the backend to improve the experience for more people and for those who care for them. This has fueled our passion.

The original thesis for MyndYou was to help with the early detection of Alzheimer’s using longitudinal passive monitoring. There were initial indications for markers that would identify early cognitive decline, including from work analyzing voice recordings of Presidential speeches. Unfortunately, drugs or therapies to delay disease progression were in their own early stages 8 years ago (with some promising progress in the last months!)  We did not see a real pathway for creating a sustainable business model without providing individuals with proven, affordable treatment paths. Also, AI was very new which made it hard to digest in the healthcare market.

Our early work was important and foundational to today’s MyndYou solution. Our first platform was used by occupational therapists and clinicians who were calling patients after hospital discharges and as part of chronic care management programs to follow up and monitor patients. We collected data passively from thousands of patient-clinician interventions so that we could understand variations in voice and other parameters, mapped to chronic conditions, and develop our models for deterioration.

In that data and in our work with clinicians we recognized patterns that make clinical encounters successful. We observed and modeled the natural interactions between clinicians and patients. We learned clinical workflows from the deep inside and identified where the most impact can be made. We found our voice. We focused in on our next stage of AI technology development with a clear understanding of the short- and longer-term value.

Where we are headed

With a robust, safe, and responsible approach informed by our data and results, Eleanor was ready to join the team. Named after an early pioneer in occupational therapy, Eleanor’s focus is supporting clinicians in communicating with patients and collecting the data they need to deliver quality care. Eleanor was trained in the “Art of the Conversation.” She has been imbued with the best of patient-clinician encounters built on the foundation of years of data collection. Eleanor has been working with our customer and partner provider and payer organizations for more than two years now, evolving, improving, learning, and supporting patients, members, and clinicians through various clinical workflows and tailored care plans.

That’s key to the success of our programs. We started from the patient experience. From the clinician’s experience. We built a product with the input of our clinical teams and having observed clinical workflows to see how Eleanor can integrate into that clinical experience for the patient and for the clinician benefit. We’ve created a highly adaptable solution that is sophisticated on the backend while simple and intuitive on the front end and which matches Eleanor’s capabilities to the needs of the customer rather than making the customer fit into our solution.

Eleanor calls patients for our customers and listens to them every day now. Customers are able to increase patient engagement and productively focus clinician time on patients who need support. She’s able to identify clinical and social determinants of health needs. She encourages patients to take action and comply with care plans. We are realizing our goal of improving care for all and helping deliver better patient outcomes and experience, at lower cost and at scale.

What’s next?

Seeing the satisfaction and the results we deliver motivates us to do more. We want Eleanor to be a bigger part of the success story for our healthcare partners. Working with our healthcare customers, we are proving how AI helps people advance care delivery. Our expanded solution roadmap will deliver more value for our partners.
